In 1994, Mathew Podd opened his own business trading as ExchangeShop and SL1210.com. After many years of Djing, sound engineering and installing exclusive London venues, Mathew opened a second hand business buying & selling DJ , PA and home audio visual equipment. With the knowledge he had this was a great sucess. After a few years, the company steered towards the pro audio and lighting side incorporating a hire department. Mathew had also started aquiring installations of bars, pubs and clubs so in 1996 he introduced the name Podd Sound.
1998: Podd Sound Limited was established by Mathew Podd
1999: in March Podd Sound opens its first DJ & PA Shop in Ewell Road, Surbiton, Surrey. Podd Sound install their first London venue and work with the Sugababes, Phats and Small, Jocelyn Brown, and many top flight DJ's. Podd Sound also provided sound and lighting for Exclusive World's Mistletoe Mansion, and Pink Party.
2000: Podd Sound install their first flagship nightclub, Bar Eivissa in Kingston-upon-Thames. Artists worked with include Annie Lennox , List Millet , Pete Tong , Seb Fontane , Judge Jules , Alex P , Brandon Block, Jools Holland, ATFC. Once again, Podd Sound provide the sound and lighting for Exclusive World's Lego Land and Blue Do events.
2001: Podd Sound opens a second branch in Southsea Road Kingston for Live Sound Hire. Highlights include Byorn Again, Bootleg Beatles, and Another Level. They also provided sound and lighting solutions for private parties for clients such as Virgin , Warehouse , Eurotunnel and BP.
2002: Two major London club installs Elysium (Westend) & The Oval (Woodgreen). Podd Sound features in Martin Audio's Edge Press release, Night Magazine (three times) and Hk Audio press release.
2003: Three more major club installs The Penthouse, Red Bar and Shh... Podd Sound also provided sound and lighting for George Clooney's Birthday Bash, Chelsea FC Xmas party and the Mary Poppins Premiere.
2004: Podd Sound purchase Surreys largest hire stock of Hk Audio. Highlights include Kilohertz private party, Massive Attack, Masters at Work live PA ( India), Tru-Pro parties and once again, Exclusive World Parties.
2005: Podd Sound merged both locations into one department in Tolworth, Surrey. There they open their live recording studio including a vocal booth, as well as a large warehouse , demo facilities and retail outlet.
2006: Podd Sound purchase a Mobile Entertainment Vehicle ( Radio Roadshows etc ). They employ full time staff for their forever growing hire stock. Highlights include First News Launch Party with Chicco, Liberty X, G4 and a fulltime contract as Radio Jackie's Roadshow team.
2007: Podd Sound closes its retail DJ Shop and continues with hire, sales & installations in a big way, having its best year to date. They now employ full time staff for install and maintainence work. Highlights include working with Jocelyn Brown, Jazzy Jeff, Alison Limerick, Dina Vass, Radio Jackie and Time FM.
2008: Invested into a large range of QSC Audio products for Hire stock. This allows them not only to keep up to date with the latest mordern hire equipment but also to give their customers greater flexability and choice when hiring. Highlights include installations in Savannas and Linekers Bar Ibiza, K Bar Athens, Cloud 9 and tribute acts tours. Invested in a Large Funktion One System in Nov for MOS Tour and Dance Events
2009: Podd Sound moves office to a warehouse in Victoria Road, Surbiton and continues to go from strength to strength with the launch of the new QSC K series. Highlights includes 2 album launch showcases for Sony Music ( KE$HA and Slayer ) , X Factor Artists, Kim Mazelle, Mica Paris and Kele Le Roc and the installation of Marylebone Sports Bar and Chessington World Of Adventure. Podd Sound purchase a small Meyer Sound UPQ System and a Yamaha LS9 16 Channel digital desk for corporate events. Sound also provided for Reading Festival Acoustic Backstage , Big Chill Backstage , Secret Love Garden Festival Backstage , Nas Festival for Halo Promo Group
2010: Podd Sound purchases a 12 box Qube Renkus Heinz Line Array, Yamaha LS9 32 Channel Desk , 20 x Litestructure staging decks and Mobile Stage Truss Canopy. Highlights include 3 Sony Music Album Launch Showcases ( Arno Carstens, Hurts and Lissie ) and the installation of the Sports Bar Victoria. Sound and lighting provided for the Sony Music Brit Awards After Party, London Fashion Week with Sony Music (De-Construction Label ) and British Fashion Council. Artists include Ramona, Taley Riley, Labrinth, Edei and Diagram of the Heart. Reading Festival Acoustic Backstage, Big Chill Backstage, Secret Love Garden Festival Backstage, Nas Festival for Halo Promo Group. Sound and light also provided for Rusty Egan (Visage & Blitz ). Podd Sound purchase the new QSC KW Series to run along side its forever growing hire department.
2011: Highlights include Reading Festival Acoustic Backstage, Big Chill Backstage, Secret Love Garden Festival Backstage, Nas Festival for Halo Promo Group. Sony Music Brit Awards Party , Labrinth Earthquake Launch , Loick Essien Showcase , Mary Bryne Showcase , Sony Prestige Awards , Bluey Robinson , Happy Days Festival ( Artists include Aswad , Brand New Heavies , Billy Ocean , Kool and The Gang , Odyssey , Heatwave , Imagination , Nik Kershaw , ABC , Tony Hadley and Johnny 2 Bad ) Private events include Olly Murs , Agro Santos. Installations include Sports Bar and Grill Farringdon , Grasshopper Inn Westerham , Fulham Sports Bar & Grill , Brasa , Broadway House and Chessington World Of Adventures Fright Night.
